226 students from 12 Kentucky high school teams are participating the 2017 Kentucky State High School Clay Target League’s (KYSHSCTL) spring trap shooting season, which began March 19th. The number of schools is nearly double that of 2016, when 145 students participated on 7 teams.
“We are very pleased with the growth of clay target shooting as an activity for Kentucky high school athletes,” said Jim Sable, Executive Director of the KYSHSCTL, “such high participation growth shows the demand for alternative high school activities related to Kentucky’s longstanding outdoor traditions.”
Upon completion of the Spring League, all student athletes are invited to participate in individual and team competitions at the 2017 State Tournament. The event is scheduled for June 10th at the Central Kentucky Gun Club in Berea, KY
Conferences are determined by team size. This year competing teams have been divided into three conferences.
